Sometimes, click of your mouse button may not result in anything on the screen or even worse , if your mouse stops working completely . Most of us will replace it rather repairing it. So, here are some steps that you can try before ditching your repaired mouse :
1. Try Replugging the Mouse into the USB port
2. or, Try Plugging the mouse into a new USB
3 or,if still the problem persists, Restart the computer.
If nothing goes in your way,I think its time for you to ditch your mouse. If you cannot put your tasks on hold until replacing the mouse with a new one , I even have a trick for this . By this trick you can actually use your keyboard(more precisely your number pad ) as your mouse.
1. Press Alt+shift+Numlock on your keyboard at a time to activate mouse keys.
2. Then select 'ok' from the dialog box that pop up after that.
3.Now you can control the mouse pointer with the Numpad. you can use the numbers 1 through 9 except 5, for the direction control of the mouse pointer.
4.Use the button 5 to click on a object.
5.Use '+' key to double click on a object.
6.Use delete button to release the mouse pointer from a object.
If you fell that mouse pointer moves slowly then press again
Alt+shift+Numlock –>settings then choose the mouse speed and acceleration (As shown in the pic below).

One Response to “What to do when your mouse stops working ?”
>You can get rid of the mouse by installing Integrated Keyboarding from http://www.inkeyboard.com which allows you to move the mouse and cursor, scroll, drag, highlight, number and delete without moving your hands from the home key position.
Hope this helps.
