If you ever accidently spill liquid on your mobile, or worse still, drop it into a pool of water, the instinctive thing you'll do is to try to turn it on to see if your phone still works. However, that may also be the worst thing you can do as powering on your phone while it's still wet may short-circuit and damage the components.

To maximize the chances of saving your phone, what you should do is take out the battery immediately and dry it as best you can. This is because even though a phone is deactivated, the connected battery may carry small currents which will harm the phone and create more corrosion.

One way of drying the phone is to use a hair dryer. Be careful not to use so high a temperature as to overheat components of your phone. Additionally, do not attempt to open up your phone without professional help.

The longer you leave your phone damp, the less chances of getting your handset back in working order. We recommend you quickly get your phone to a service center as soon as possible to have it seen to.
